Eddie Hearn isn’t scared after new boxing promotional company TKO has joined forces with Saudi Arabia and Turki Alalshikh.
The Matchroom promoter has been very vocal after the announcement of what seems to be a direct rival to his own company.
Earlier this week Dana White (TKO) and Turki Alalshikh announced there new partnership for a boxing league.
The partnership includes access to the UFC’s host of performance institutes which include training spaces, gym access and nutrition/ recovery centres.
TKO will take over the production side of the new boxing league bringing its expertise in both promoting and media.
Both White and Turki Alalshikh have hyped up the promotion to be the leader in the boxing world including only a single belt champion.
Dana White has reinforced this idea of single champions saying its a “proven model”.
“THE MODEL IS PROVEN TO DELIVER THE FIGHTS THAT THE FANS WANT TO SEE. THE BEST WILL FIGHT THE BEST. THE FIGHTERS WILL MOVE UP THE RANKINGS TO BECOME WORLD CHAMPIONS”
He also said that he thought boxing couldn’t be fixed but Turki Alalshikh has turned his opinion.
“I FELT LIKE BOXING WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD NEVER BE FIXED, UNTIL TURKI ALALSHIKH SHOWED UP. HE HAS DONE MORE FOR BOXING THAN ANY PROMOTER IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT COMBINED.”
Eddie Hearn Isn’t Scared-
Despite the new challenge of Turki Alalshikh’s new venture, Eddie Hearn hasn’t been deterred out of the business.
Hearn in a recent interview has said he isn’t scared of the new venture and anyone who is scared isn’t confident in there business.
“I think it’s amazing news. If you’re comfortable with your business it’s a brilliant thing.
Though he doesn’t seem to be scared, Hearn doesn’t agree that boxing is broken.
“The thing I disagree on is them saying boxing is broken”
Hearn claims that the governing bodies still have power with fighters especially.
“The governing bodies have a huge amount of history and fighters want to fight for those belts”
The promoter has been very keen on ensuring people he isn’t scared of competition and welcomes the new boxing league.
“I’m the best boxing promoter in the world bar none. So, I have no fear if they(Turki & Dana) want to try & crush me”
